This policy explains how Waterloo Downsizing ("we", "us") handles information collected through waterloodownsizing.com (the "Site").
Information we collect
- Information you give us. When you submit a form we collect your name, email address, phone number, current neighbourhood, moving timeline, the type of home you are considering and any notes you add.
- Consent records. We record that you checked the consent box, the wording you agreed to, the date and time, the page you submitted from, your IP address and your browser type.
- Technical data. Our hosting provider processes standard server data such as IP addresses and request logs to deliver and secure the Site.
How we use it
- To match you with a local real estate agent registered in Ontario and share your request with that agent.
- To contact you about your request by phone, text or email as described in the consent you gave.
- To keep records of consent, prevent spam and abuse and operate the Site.
How we share it
We share your form details with the registered real estate agent or brokerage we match you with so they can contact you. We also use service providers that process data on our behalf, such as website hosting and the systems that receive form submissions. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it with other companies for their own marketing.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights and safety of users and others.
Text messages and calls
If you consented, we and the agent you are matched with may contact you by phone, text message and email about your request. You can withdraw that consent at any time: reply STOP to a text, use the unsubscribe link in an email or write to us at the address below.
Where your information is processed
Our website host and email systems are operated by service providers that may store or process information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it is subject to the laws of that country.
Cookies
The Site does not use advertising or analytics cookies.
Retention and security
We keep submissions only as long as needed to handle your request and meet legal and record-keeping obligations. We use reasonable safeguards, but no online transmission is completely secure.
Your choices
You can ask us to access, correct or delete the information you submitted, or to stop contacting you, by emailing hello@waterloodownsizing.com. The agent you were matched with keeps their own records, and you may contact them directly as well. If you are not satisfied with how we handle a privacy concern, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
Children
The Site is not directed to children and we do not knowingly collect their information.
Changes
We may update this policy. The effective date above shows when it last changed.
